The entire Gears of War 1/2 story is great, and both of the campaigns are amazing. The only thing I don't like about Gears of War 2 is the online play. Horde mode is superb, but player versus player gametypes are horrific. Back to Gears of War 1 online for me.

The story could have been better in Gears 2. The setup in Gears was great, the story really sucked me in. They needed to do a better follow up and explain more stuff in 2, and not have the ending suck so much.
